Batch two - In from Mike Sinnott - (Mike is ex-RAF, retired and living in Vacoas area of Mauritius).
"Admiralty sub-station" now belonging to the CEB (Central Electricity Board), probably a transformer that fed the commcen and quarters. This is situated on the St. Paul's road, still bears the inscription "Admiralty", looks like it is still operational.
Anchor in park close to a golf course just beyond the gymkhana sports fields - this is on the outer limits very close to Phoenix.
This building looks like it was used as a mess or offices ? It is now part of the SMF canteen
This is the SMF canteen - probably was also a mess before?
This is the gmkhana sports field area
Inside the hospital area today it is the ENT (ears, nose, throat) public hospital of Vacoas
Another view inside the hospital area
The main hospital building
Part of the hospital building complex
Married quarters flats - these would have been near the comcen
Married quarters - this view gives you an idea of the run-down state
This is a building further down in the area behind the hospital and near to the old prison area
not sure if this was in existence then but it looks like it was married quarters flats and still used as such.
View of the old prison, outer limits touching Phoenix
Found this old house at the rear of the camp facing the old prison. It looks like it could have been officer's quarters??
Again at rear of the camp - I wonder what this building was before?
Suffolk Close area
Married quarters sign near old comcen area
SMF Mobile Wing entrance area with a married quarters flat on the side - this would have been level with the comcen area
